This my first time with geese. They are so adorable and sweet I have to say the chicks we got this year aren't as tame as they could be. We spent all our bird holding time with the geese! Covering our chests with a towel for protection from the inevitable poop, we let them sleep on us. They snuggled in my hair and nibbled my ears. I was charmed from the start!

I just realized that I lost all my baby goose pictures and videos in a recent iPhone accident

This one was on facebook. I love how when you call them they come running with their wings out. And at first they were such stubby silly wings!

This is them now, I posted this in another thread.

So sweet! I do hope we have a boy and girl.

Beth
They are beautiful kids!

I could hear you thinking too, you know! I think there is duck and goose telepathy...Missy is sending some sort of signal to keep laying eggs. It is 96 degrees today, and they are out there making merry. I won't let them sit, I have been bringing the eggs in for the bator. It's a good thing I always keep the other bator on and calibrated. Spay and neuter program, spay and neuter program...

. It is too hot for them to be sitting on their eggs all day. Even with food and water in there, as well as outside.

The closing is almost done for Lordsburg. Then comes the greater bird exodus. With all of the biblical names over here, we are without a Moses to lead the way

. Perhaps one of the Ancona babies. Today has been an awesome Sabbath! Woo Hoo!

I have to send the blessings to all my peeps on here! Oh yes, Sammy is quite the handsome gent. He already knows that. My birds are egotistical. Surely mine aren't the only ones.

Blessings everybody!

RG glad the eggs are hatching well for you. That is what we want the most is a safe hatch and no problems. All my girls stopped laying eggs and are going into molt. I am glad they sat so patiently and nothing. Poor babies. Now they have been running and playing enjoying the mud puddle up over the front tiny small hill. They all get in it and run through it and have a blast.
Had all my goslings outside today because it was the first day it had not been raining. Well we got flooded in up here on the hill. At the bottom of the road going down the hill by the stop sign the water was up to the stop sign almost half way onto the sign. I sure hope this goes down before Monday because I have to go to dialysis!!

Ron went down and checked it today and it may have went down about 6 inches.

RG say hello to your husband for me please.

I had five female Buff geese this year -- all 5 sat, and the first had a batch of 5 goslings. The second, third, and fourth sat with dedication, for 4 plus weeks and then gave it up to take care of the goslings with the first goose when their eggs didn't hatch. The fifth goose looked for a long time like she wasn't going to sit at all, but she kept laying and then she decided to sit just a week or two ago. I'm giving her another week or so, and then I'm going to either introduce her to my goslings or remove the nest . . . I still have a little hope as she did hatch out babies last year, but I think she's probably got infertile eggs or they got too chilled . . .

On the plus side, I discovered seven surprise ducklings last morning . . .

I don't know if I could do goose eggs in an incubator. After reading about all the issues and problems, I think I'd be too stressed out for an entire month! I'd rather just see if my geese can figure it out . . .

And that is an incredible number of eggs! In the heat too . . .

The "little" Toulouse that are almost 5 weeks are almost as tall as Martha. Martha and Mary are almost 10 weeks old. Boris has to have his head in the picture. I thought the buff girls were getting big. Then I noticed how the Toulouse goslings are close to Martha's height. Martha has shorter legs and neck in comparison to Mary. Really starting to wonder if I have a Marvin and Martha. Time will tell. Martha's legs really look short since her lobes are rather large, especially since Mary has none.

Martha has taken the role of mother with the Toulouse since they were 2 days old. She will be a good mother some day. Boris and Mary always like to block me from Martha and the little goslings. Cute.

Maybe next year I will have goslings that are hatched here.
