Nope. Just fill it with charcoal and soaked paper towels. Once I’m set up I take the lid off and light it up. Last for 5-6 hrs of heat. You don’t want it hot for cooking although it well get hot enough eventually anyway. I only do it once it get brutally cold. On those days Ill bring a thermos of coffee and a couple fine cigars too. Ya know for the slow times which is most of the time.Looks like same club has metal too

So do you vent the bottom of the can to let it breath?
