American Gamefowl

Growing up we had the black an tan type and were decent dogs with purpose. I love a 13inch beagle and on a trail they sound awesome nothing like them. I don't know much about these guys back ground, I know they were not cheap when previous folks bought em. They wanna run noses are always down unless ya break em they just run into the fence first. I'm hoping they soon realize to stop hitting it, but hard to do when their heads are in the ground. The girl seems to be more cautious of the fence faster than the male, but they both are learning. I like em I just don't know if it's a good fit or not just yet I've got plenty on my plate, but they are great with the youngns and love attention.

I’ve known some outstanding beagles and some down right poor beagles in the past ... I owned mostly upper middle ground... but pretty much by the keeping of others, not my own efforts...

the thing that tells a proper rabbit dog is after 3 hours or better of hunt in thick cover... if the tip of the tail is pink with blood from beating the briars... that’s one to keep and breed...

I once had a sibling pair that were hard hunting dogs... both were ‘steel mouthed’ but for an occasional yip when they got real hot...

one would plow hard through anything, the other would hang back and work slow... they were a great team working that way ...

On their own neither stood out... but as a pair they worked really well

Nothing backwoods about slapping some dumb*ss in the mouth with the stock end of the shotgun.
It’s a free for all. Guy pulled up as I was loading the canoe into the water a little ways off from me. He tried to beat me to the middle of the the marsh. “Nope sorry b**ch I can paddle faster than you”
It’s like the Wild West in some areas.

forget the ducks...

I’m looking forward to hearing of lil havoc, going ‘full havoc’ on some duck pirate, lol

I've always had em as a pair myself. I haven't giving them the chance to run but they want too Im trying to keep them in check behind the fence first. I let em out for about 4 hours or more a day and watch em and try to teach em but I know it's hard to stop the nose.

I do know when I was a boy me and my little brother was in the woods with one of ours and ran up on 3 strays that little dog fought and fought we made it back to the house. Well about 30mins or so she showed up a bit beating up and sore but overall ok. Her name was ru ru and she was a tough little ball of fire.
