Nah not yet. I was chasing ducks again. I moved spots and none flew close enough.
I did have a beaver all fired up though. There’s actually chain pickerel in these beaver ponds. They’re not too awful big but they can be fun.

The best is when one foot gets stuck in the mud and your body keeps moving. I get my feet free just in time to kneel down in 4 ft of water. That’s always a good time.

This one place I hunt is made up of man made impoundments where the water level is regulated. I hunt the same area every time. I paddle to the spot and then jump out of the canoe into shin deep water in the dark.
One day last year I hopped out like usual. Splash!!! I’m like WTF! I looked around to make sure I was in the same spot. Yep! Talked to a guy on the way out. They’ve raised the water levels to allow for grasses to grow. That’s a good thing. I however did not get the memo.
