American Idol

When Queen went looking for another singer they specifically looked for someone who was different than Freddy. They didn' t want to "replace" Freddy because he was not replaceable. That's why they chose Paul Rogers. A great singer who could handle the music but with a different style.

That's what I had interpreted in the earlier posts and would like to suggest that perhaps the discussions over personal opinions about sexual orientation could be inappropriate since they could be inflammatory (trolling).

I'd hate to see this popular thread closed because a music topic turns into a platform for someone's potentially offensive expressions.

Ah never mind me I'm just ole fashion

and remember a different time ! I think the right person won American Idol and so did the majority of the 100 million voters, I'll just leave it at that!

I danced with Rod Stewart at a show in Merriweather Post. I was the first girl up on the stage. I couldn't believe it when he saw me in the front row and held his hand out then curled his finger to tell me to come up. He was rough lookin on Idol tho, I guess he's gettin up there

ahhh Freddy Mercury. No one can replace him thats for sure. Paul did an outstanding job although the mix I heard was not quite right imo. And it made me just miss Freddy all the more. What a voice/style. Adam would be interesting.

Queen - I had 9th row seats back in the day and FORGOT ABOUT THE CONCERT. I was hauling hay for my Appaloosa that evening. JUST missed my brother and everyone else leaving for the show. Later that summer I got an extra ticket from a friend to go see Frank Zappa unexpectedly. But still.

Ps
who got how many votes? Do we know?

I do, too, and I think it's best left as a memory. I'm happy for the winner but I still think Adam will go on to have a great career, and I'll leave it at that.

Gosh, I didn't realize they released to the public the margin. I actually heard that it was VERY close...perhaps less than 4% from the rumors going around.

DialIdol had the number at something like 1.1%.

My favorite concert from the 70's musical wise was Journey absolutely awesome! The most enjoyable was Lynard Skynard, dont remember a whole about but just enough to know I had fun! LOL!

Merriweather Post! I went to SO MANY concerts there!! Great shows!

I remember cleaning stalls to Rod Stewart when I was a kid back when Maggie May/Mae was in rotation. Now, THOSE are the Old Days.

I also loved concerts at DAR Constitution Hall. There are some things I really miss about living in the DC area! Just not the roads and the traffic! (Sorry about being OT)
