American Idol

pips&peeps :

Yep, Pia had chops, but she was soooo boooorrrriiinnng!

The judges aren't doing anyone any favors by falling all over themselves every time someone sings; they are supposed to be giving constructive criticism. The performances weren't all that great this week.

I really like James. He's a little immature and at times he has his ticks; but it seems as if he is making progress with his disability and I applaud everyone around him for letting him be who he is. The kid can sing almost anything.

And, what was Iggy on???????

I agree, Jean. I will say that it is a relief this year not to be hearing CONSTANTLY "you need to pick the right song" "it's all about song choice" which was about all Paula, Randy and Simon had to say last year.

Iggy - I think he was just gross !!! I muted the TV and read...same with Constantine. I couldn't stand him when he was on AI when he was a contestant - still can't stand him. His making cow eyes at the camera gives me the creeps. And can he not afford shampoo or a brush?

I could, for the most part leave Texasgal to post my opinions, as we think a lot alike.

I don't know why Pia was "such a shock". Yes, yes, she could sing well. She was still boring! I still say voice isn't everything, and America obviously must agree, or she wouldn't have been eliminated. No one has EVER said her voice wasn't great, but the fact remains that she did not show personality in her performances, and obviously that's a big deal. She's been told almost every single performance that she needs to show more personality. I don't think she entirely ignored the advice, I just don't think she has the personality to show.

I expected that Stefano would go before her, so that was "slightly" surprising, but he'll be next. Unless someone does something hugely wrong, he'll be next. Seems like a nice guy, but I don't think he has the steadiness that the others have in their performances. he can be hit or miss.

Jacob: I don't know, he's good, but I think he loses the "excitement factor" for a lot of viewers. I actually thought he did quite well on the cover of Michael Jackson, didn't go over the top with his gospel-ness on that one, but unless he continues to show more variety like that, I think he'll be on his way out. Oh, and I thought the comment about not looking at ourselves in the mirror if he was voted in the bottom sounded incredibly arrogant, but I'm not sure he meant it that way. I think he was trying to be "deep", but I think it came out sounding bad.

Paul: hard not to like his smile of course, and yes, he's unique, but will he win? Not likely.

Casey: I hated him in the beginning, and I still cringe when he growls, but since his save I have to admit he seemed to learn a lot, and has been doing a good job of showing more versatility.

Scotty has been strong. I personality am not a country fan for the most part, but he certainly does have a great country voice. Look at Carrie Underwood (of which I am not really a fan), she is very successful in country and came from Idol, so it's certainly possible. And for those who are holding out hope because he sings Elvis or rock songs, don't fool yourself. He's doing that because he HAS to, because there are song themes, or to show he's versatile, but I guarantee you he's planning to stick with country. Even though I'm no country fan, I still say good for him. Great voice, nice guy.

Lauren: She has grown on me, I'll admit that, but here's the thing. Within a day or so, I always completely forget what she even sang or how well she did. That's gotta say something. So easily forgettable can't be good...

Haley: I have a love/hate relationship with her. She used to really irk me, but she's really improved over the last few weeks. Having said that, will she win? Not likely.

James: What can I say, other than "Ladies and Gentlemen... your next American Idol!" Yep. I'm pretty sure. He's been my favorite since the beginning. I always think he makes smart song choices, he's always entertaining, even when he did a mellow song, I was still riveted. He's got the excitement factor, but he still has a strong voice, high notes, screaming notes, mellow notes, you name it. And he's very likable. I see no reason why he wouldn't win, so far at least.

Whoops, didn't read ^ closely enough so I'm having to change my reply from completely agree to partially agree.

Get out of my head ! lol

I do happen to LOVE casey .. and have from the beginning.. I think he got a little off trying to capitalize on the "J-Lo thinks I'm sexy when I growl" thing. I go back and you-tube him singing "Why don't you do right" and "Georgia" ...and he brings me to tears. really.

Haley has been hot ever since she sang "Blue" to me. I only know 3 people that could sing that song without botching it, Patsy Cline, Leann Rimes, and now Haley. I think she is sexy, has the voice and her confidence and poise are coming on strong.

Agree with your comments about Scotty. (And don't forget Kelly Clarkson, Season 1)

My love/hate thing is with Lauren. I think she might need a few years to mature.

Jacob: Okay, first, I've officially decided I'm sick to death of Jacob. It hit me suddenly tonight; he's arrogant and tries to play humble. I hate that! I was glad the producer guy, Jimmy called him out on his arrogant comment about us "looking in the mirror". "Giving advice and you haven't even made a record yet? Stop preaching" Yes, you tell him!

Haley: Geez, I can't win. Just when I get on board with her... thoroughly enjoyed her Blondie cover, and they all hated it. I know what they were saying about raising the bar, blah blah, but it was a fun song.

Casey: Groan....... oh, I hate Jazz, if that's what that was. I'm sorry, maybe I have an ignorant ear, but that just rubbed me the wrong way. BORING.

Lauren: Good as usual, but as usual I forgot what she sang within minutes. She's very likable and sings nicely, but I keep forgetting her! I still say that can't be a good sign.

Paul: just doesn't thrill me. Sorry. Great smile, but no thrills.

Scotty: Same opinion as I've always had, he'll be a great country singer with or without Idol at this point, no doubt. Not a great song choice though.

Stefano: Oh, Stefano. He made me sad tonight. He's sweet and good hearted, I think he was very proud of himself tonight, coming back from the Pia controversy, but there's no way on this earth he stands a chance.

James. Uh, DUH. WINNING. (and that's coming from someone who hates Sammy Hagar. Sorry, I do. But he actually made it better)

What was up with Zach Wilde trying to steal his thunder afterward, just standing there and not leaving? AWKWARD. I laughed out loud when Ryan said "I feel like I should be putting up a number for you, sorry Bud."

I absolutely DISLIKED Casey tonight. But then, I have never liked him. He reminds me of a lounge singer.
I loved Pauls' outfit. I thought he did well.
I know some of you don't like Jacob. You HAVE to admit that he puts EVERYTHING of himself in his performances. Personally he gives me goosies when he sings.
MHO is that Stefano's gonna go next.
