American Idol

I don't think you need to worry about Scotty. Even if he doesn't win Idol, he's pretty much guaranteed a record deal, people are probably waiting on him right now. He does have a great classic country voice.

Funny, I almost forgot about Simon. At first I thought the show really wouldn't be great without him, those harsh words of his did add to the interest. But it does seem to be working just fine and I do like the judges. Although I have to wonder, when I picture Simon saying "That was absolutely atrocious..." who would he even say that to? I mean, everyone has been really great!

I thought everyone did very well last night except Jacob. I just can not stand the way he sings. At all. PERIOD! When they paired him with James for the duo I thought I would cry, but fortunately I was able to focus on James' singing and tune Jacob out. I hope that Jacob is history after tonight... please, oh please, let him be the one!! It was so nice not having to listen to Stefano last night... if Jacob goes tonight it'll be a little like AI Heaven for the last few weeks.

With that said, my favorite, JAMES, was FANTASTIC last night! Wow, that young man has a great voice. He'll go somewhere with it even if he doesn't win the title, so I'm not worried about that. But it would be nice to see him win!

FYI, y'all. My mother took 2 of my kids to a viewing party in Garner, NC (Scotty's hometown) since it's only 10 miles or so from us. While they were there she talked to a little old lady who told her that she cast (are you ready for this?) ELEVEN HUNDRED votes for Scotty one night!!

I didn't know that was even possible, but apparently it is very easy to vote by phone now (I vote online) and all the woman did was start calling as soon as the phone lines opened and as soon as the call went through she would hang up and hit redial. 1100 votes from ONE person, y'all, that is INSANITY!!

X2 Everything Jacob sings sounds the same !! No versatility at all.

My favorite is still Casey, but James is a very, very close 2nd. And Haley is really quite awesome. I don't know how she is so overlooked and in the bottom 3 so much. I think she is a LOT better than Lauren, though I really love Lauren's personality. I haven't liked Scotty much the last 2 weeks - but he's going to be a BIG country superstar whether he wins Idol or not - I imagine they have been lined up to snatch him up for weeks now.

Tonight should be interesting.

I like both Scotty and James. I actually liked James performance last night the best ~ he showed he can really sing and not just scream loudly. I also am not a big fan of Casey ~ he can sing, but there is just something I don't like about him.

Another ditto.

I also like James - though I can do without some of his screeches.

I don't always vote, but I voted for Scotty, James and Lauren last night.

As for Haley, I get tired of her. I think she can sing, but I don't think I could listen to a whole album of her style. I also think it has something to do with her stage presence. I did love her and Casey's duet, so maybe she'd do good in a band. Casey as a soloist is also getting old to me. I really liked him at first, though.

I have a question for those of you who've mentioned voting for more than one contestant. I'm just curious why you vote for multiple people? I would think it would be like choosing more than one presidential candidate in an election (not nearly as serious thank god!) in that you pick the one you think should win. Is it that you simply haven't chosen a favorite yet, and so you vote for the people you like? And then do you narrow that down week to week and choose fewer people to vote for each time? I'm just curious, because it's never even occurred to me to vote for more than one. I always vote for my favorite. In my case that's been James from day one, but I would change my vote if my opinion changed of course. Just never thought to vote for multiple people...

I've been voting for James, Scotty (for my 9 year old daughter), and Casey for the last few weeks but I give at least twice as many votes to James, usually just one or two to Scotty and Casey. The reason I've been voting for these 3 is because I don't want to see them sent home prematurely. If, for example, Casey got sent home before Jacob it would be sad... IMO.
