American serama thread!

I friend of mine gave me a start 2 years ago and I have been playing with them. I love what I am getting. Each generation is better and I am breeding the best of them. I would love to have real full feathering and I think this year I will get it.

I bought a pair of booted seramas personally. They are wheaten colored.

(I know the reply wasn't meant for me, but eh. I thought I would just say my piece)

I forgot you had booted Theron.
I have a frizzled cock whose leg feathering goes down fjust a little farther than my other birds. I was just curious.

Not to bring anyone down from the beautiful snow pics, but wanted to let the ones that had given advice on my lonely little Peep, my first Serama hatchling, it didn't make it.

I don't know why but I do know these things happen.
I put one incubator in lock down today and have 3 more to go at different intravals.

Please say some hatching prayers for me. I am hoping I have better luck this time around.

My last hatching, I had veins and movement but they died in the last few days.

Take care everyone and stay warm.

Kbell,
I'm so sorry about your chick.

I hope you have some good luck hatching. I'm having the same issue with hatching, 7 eggs in lockdown, only 2 hatch. I'm giving the last ones some extra time before tossing them out. I guess if Ray can hatch at day 25 perhaps there is still a chance, but I think its unlikely.
My little chick that was weak like yours has pulled through, and is 16 days old now. He's not much bigger than my hatchlings that hatched Monday, but he's not falling over anymore. I still hold my breath each morning when I check on the chicks. Well, okay, heck, I hold my breath when I check on the adults too, but I'm just paranoid I guess.

Is it just me or has it been really quiet on here since they changed everything... Normally I can't keep up with you guys...

haha, i got in just now and had 2 pages- wish we could set how many posts to threads-

is the fatality on serama hatches higher in an incubater rather than a broody? i should have some by the end of the week, holding my breath... and my other serama hen was acting broody tonite, kept sitting on her egg, then gave up after an hour...

here are some more fun pics of boaz and ruth- bath day today- they get so relaxed, ruth does a total meltdown- seems the only way i can get a handle on the mites(brown bugs?) is a weekly bath- payday i'll get some frontline

also, am thinking of offering some of my chicken photos on a site like cafepress or zazzle where people can buy novelties, cups, prints etc- do you think that is something that would sell?? froggie gave me the idea

Yay - welcome back! Pardon my hiatus - my father-in-law is visiting forever. LOL.
Also although I like the new look of BYC the layout is killing me. It keeps directing me to the learning center - you think it's trying to tell me something??
We're slowly building our new coops here. We had a snow storm blow in so progress is slow but it's going to be lovely once it's finished.
How is my baby rooster doing? :love
My seramas are being so patient with the nasty weather. I baked them pea cakes and fixed them up some scrambled eggs with spinach and peas. When my five year old got home from school he found the tub of eggs and stuffed a handful into his mouth. I told him it was for the chickens and he said, "Mmm! That stuff is goo-ood for the chickens!" Haha.

Thank you , great talking to u jonnie . I will update ur little cockerel tomorrow when I take a pic . He has pumpkin lace with chocolate and he is going to be small....

Oh wow, Tailfluff is Jonnie??? Who else is on here that is on SCNA by a different name? I'm ChailiB over there, but my name is mentioned regularly, and my avatar is the same, so I figured you all knew who I was.

Ah... Yes, it's me. You have uncovered my secret identity.

That's so I can raise a stink on the other forum and still be loved on this one. LOL - kidding!! Hullo Chaili! I didn't know that was you. I always enjoy reading your posts - you always have something encouraging to say! You're a cool chica in my books.

Ken - was totally awesome talking to you too. We must do that again sometime! Check your messages when you get a chance.
