I use a styrofoam egg carton. It doesn't absorb moisture from the humidity and yet it lets them stand up a bit and still have room to move around as well. It has worked for me. I have also used a spare turner rail to sit the eggs in and it sorta puts a wall up in front of newly hatched chicks to keep them at bay. Just a suggestion for both...I am sure the pro's on here can give you more ideas.Hey guys, when you put your eggs on lock down do you put them on anything so when others are hatching and hoping around they will not roll the other eggs? I don't go on lock down for 9 days, but I don't want to just lay them flat on the bottom of the incubator. Any advice of something to put them in that will allow them to wiggle around and hatch, but not get knocked around in the incubator by hatch mates.![]()
#1. Broodiness has definitely not been bred out of any of my serama hens. They become broody fairly often and when one does, other ones want to join them, if caged together. Right now I have 3 setting in the same nest--it's not what I want, but they won't have it any other way. The problem is, when the eggs hatch they fight over the babies.I have a few questions , Iloved the pics by the way that harness isso cute where did you get it?
1. How often do serama hens go broody? Are they one of the breeds that have had it pretty much bred out of them?
2.If I breed a frizzle hen to a reg serama roo will any eggs have the chance of hatching a frizzle?
3.Are they easy to get to ride in the car and go to school and stufflike that , I want to take mine to the school my son goes to.
4.Will the chicks only be the colors of the parents ?
Lunar, don't know name of website but if you google "cookie tin heater" several different ones come up. I have also heard of hanging a light bulb in an upside down clay pot for a coop heater.Could someone please re-post the link to the cookie tin heaters? pretty plz. I thought I had it marked, but I can't seem to find it now.Thank you.![]()
So you just lay them on their sides in styrofoam egg cartons and they are able to wiggle out and hatch ok?I use a styrofoam egg carton.
