American serama thread!

Hi decided to join your thread. I just hatched 4 serama chicks on the Dec. 1st that I got from Crazypetlady. I realy had gotten 9 but 4 hatched and I can't be more thrilled about it. I have falling in love with these little guys. One of the babies is showing rooster attitude. Standing very straight and rushes my hand when I put my hand in the cage. Big tuff guy. I hold them often. I want to learn all I can about them and raise them right. My first question is when do they get off the medicated [ I also mix with ground wheat grain] feed and go to the grower food and what type should I get? I think someone said to soak the food but I haven't and they are eating well. No pasty butts so far. Here is some pictures of them.
Toy which I think is a boy on our living Christmas tree.

and lastly Berry.

4/9 is a great hatch for these little guys. Yours are so cute and I have to agree that little Tinsel may be a frizzle. I feed mine a homemade mash every morning and they have medicated feed available also. They love the mash so much that every morning they are trying to rip the dish from my hand as I put it into their cage. I feed Nutrena chick starter and grower so they will continue to get that until they are a few months old. They are only 5 and 6 weeks old now so it will still be for a while yet. I did grind the Nutrena for the first 2 weeks so that it was smaller and easier for them to eat.

Fuzzybird, they're so adorable! and yes, 4/9 hatching is very good for shipped eggs! I love your pictures!

My little Frizzled Silkie cross, Scarlet had to lose her bling today. I had to remove her legband due to the feathers on her legs twisting all around and making it too tight. She was very upset. She has officially stretched up taller than Uno, now. And he is all wing. He will be 4 weeks old Monday. Hard to believe he's that old already. Hopefully, my NYD hatch will give him lots of new Serama buddies to play with.

I know, time just flys! I have my 19 eggs in the 'bator for the NYD hatch, and its been only two days yet people are candling already. You can't see anything at 2 days can ya? Talk me out of trying please, I'm such a candle-holic and I'd rather be good and leave them be, LOL, but now I'm curious.....

So I'm a little late in starting for NYD hatch thanks to the general antics of USPS. Oh well, just NYDing for funsies anyways. BUT I am having some trouble already!!! This is my very first hatch ever of any breed and my first shipped eggs so I'm still working on the sea legs. I have a couple questions for you guys. I already posted in hatching and incubating and e-mailed Castle Delight (where I got my eggs from) but figured it can't hurt to ask you guys too since many of you are Serama hatching experts

I picked up the eggs from the post office today! Supposedly they rang my doorbell yesterday but I was home all day just waiting for them and they never rang SQUAT! Anywho they left a note on the door that they could be picked up today so I ran right over and got em! USPS is so frustrating sometimes.

I candled to see if I could find the air pockets and they were pretty mobile (from shipping correct?). There were also a lot of little spots inside the eggs, no bigger then the point of a pen. Are those also little air bubbles from being tossed around in the mail?
As soon as I got them I put them pointy end down in an egg carton to let their air bubbles stabilize and when I went to candle them this evening to check it out tonight there was a strange sticky substance on all of their shells. It looks like small sap dropplets. It is clear and almost completely hard. I went to remove one egg from the carton and it stuck to it at one of the little sapplet points. I chipped two eggs trying to get them out, one just straight gentle pulling and another trying to wash the egg from the carton. Is this normal? Should I toss the eggs I chipped? I haven't moved the others for fear of more damage. help
