American serama thread!

I asked this before but didn't get an answer. What is the life span of Serama's? I heard it was just a few years.
Sorry often posts slip by us too fast. in good safe situation the average lifespan for other breeds is 10 to 12 years. Seramas supposedly came to the US around 2000 and typically they live for 7 to 10 years. I have some that are about 2.5 years old and going strong. I saw some people saying they only live a couple years and a healthy wellfed and safe secure bird will definitely live longer than that. I read they easily live 10 years in Malaysia so take care of those babies and they do live a good long time.

Babies! First are my 3 week old little ones

Then my tiny tiny 12 week old baby... this one is living in the house now, and is probably going to be a house chicken since it seems like it'll be a micro. This is Autumn, but looking like I'll have to change it's name to something more masculine :< This is also a standard guinea pig cage which I am using for this baby, to give a sense of it's size

Oh wow, they are gorgeous!

Those are some beautiful babies and I REALLY think the frizzled one wants to come stay with me.

Any idea how much Autumn weighs? I want a black and white so bad but the three I had hatching never lived to get out of the shell. I will keep trying in the Spring maybe.

I don't have any idea... I need to get a scale, but she/he is small enough to fit in my hand lengthwise, about the size of a fat cockatiel

I have two eggs which might make it to lockdown for the NYD hatchalong... and these babies might have to do a tour of aunties sometime LOL! Just for vacation and to see the world of course!

Micros will live only 1-2 years. Like with any other breed of chicken, it depends on conditions and care. I would anticipate with good care that a health bird would live 7 years or so.
