American serama thread!

I cant believe this hen is still alive...she seems to be doing better and her color is back to normal..she isnt walking around but she is sitting up with her head tilted backwards...but her eyes look clear...i think she got very cold...i am purchasing one of those ceiling heaters that wont be such a fire hazard.

This hen was on her back with her feet up in the air twice...i dont know if i should have tried to save her...might just be prolonging her death?

BTW...I have been incubating some of her eggs this last month...only one made it to the 20th day...which is today...so maybe it will hatch...would like to have one chick from her just in case she dies...its in lockdown now...so fingers crossed!!!

Guess who is getting not one but TWO pairs tomorrow? Yes, ME!!!! I'm so excited. Never mind that my cage won't arrive until Thursday. I have dog crates they can live in until the cages arrive and are set up. I found the perfect bases for the cages. Writing desks from Home Depot. I was walking through looking for something else and saw them. They are 2'x4' so I bought three and put the end to end so I can get a duplicate cage for the second pair.

What am I getting? A beautiful Wheaten pair who have been named Sherlock and Agatha and a white frizzle cockerel with a smooth white female that I named Castle and Beckette.

I've been happy dancing around here!

Congrats!! You will love them!

And here is one of my young pairs enjoying some time in the chicken playpen in the grass, outside their off-the-ground cages... Marilyn (6 1/2 months old silkied boy) and Kahlua (about 4 1/2 months old)

Such pretty birds! I'm going to have to learn how to upload photos to this site!

Well, gotta go give the outside girls a treat and check on Betty and Bertha. Bertha was getting picked on and I noticed last night it looked like someone got a little too close to her eye so I put her in with Betty, who they all picked on. So I want to make sure Betty is okay this morning. If not, Bertha goes back in with the Nellies where she mostly holds her own. Those Nellies are so mean to any bird outside their original group of six.

Oh my, I love your names, lol. So cute!
So do they need grit if they are only eating chick crumble?
They don't need grit as long as they are just on chick feed, they only need the grit if they are getting grains or treats.
