Yeagin1 they are all beautiful! Nice job!
Thanks Christy, it's taken me a while but I'm finally seeing more birds with good type but there's a lot of room for improvement too.

I want to candle my eggs Wednesday. That will be day 6, but I have some questions. Do I just take out one egg at a time out of the incubator real quick leaving the lid on or can the lid be left off while I candle the eggs?

I'm so scared to do it! I need some hand holding here!

I do 1 at a time. I usually place a wet washcloth in to compensate for the humidity lose when I open the bator then take it out when I am finished candling.

Thanks Rayben2006. I don't breed for color just for type but I do love the color of that chocolate laced boy..lolol...
They're working on other colors but at this time the only color recognized by the ABA/APA is the White American Serama. The blacks will be next to be recognized and we have some working on Mottled and Wheaton. At SCNA, with the Traditional we're color blind and breed more for improving type than the color of a bird or their legs, beak and ears. Mine are considered Traditional and will be shown table top.

You can find the standards for the American Serama, Traditional, and Malaysian draft on SCNA. The forum has a lot of good information and it's free to join.

Yeagin1, your birds are so beautifully colored!
Thanks, K9Flier. My hands are a bit deformed with RA so when I candle I leave them in the bator and I only candle just before lockdown. I get better hatches by hand turning, I just roll them because if I tryed picking them up I would never have chicks..lolol..Seramas sometimes hatch in 18 days so you may want to go into lockdown a day ro so sooner than with other eggs.
Hope you have a great hatch!!

Thanks for the info I wish I would have done my homework befor buying my serama a form Jerry serama down in the parish lol it's a native joke but any way he had a wonderfully gorgeous white frizzle little girl omg she was stunning

Here are two of my boys...the black silkied is just 6 1/2 months old, and the frizzled guy is close to 3 months, both still very much babies. BoogeyMan, the black one, though, is already an old pro on the table...he just stood there and posed his heart out. What a good boy! (And he was mean as a snake 6 weeks ago... LOL!)
