x2. Taping a roosters' mouth, IMO, is animal cruelty. Others may disagree, but I would never do that. If you don't want to hear a roosters' crow then don't have one in the first place.
Is it crowing at all you can't have, or just during certain hours? My seramas were inside over winter, and they kept waking me up around 4 am with their crowing.i thought it seemed very cruel too. i wish there was some way to keep a rooster from crowing.... anyone have any ideas for a contraption that isnt cruel?
She looks like a pretty girl getting close to giving you her first egg to me.this was my post yesterday:
my serama is starting to worry me. her comb is starting to get bigger? do you guys think it has something to do with the new cockerel i put in the coop? today she feels heavier, comb a little redder and bigger, and her tail looks more open then ever, and her vent is a little bigger than usual? she is exactly 113 days old today. could this mean she is ready to lay eggs? yesterday she was normal, today shes different?
the person i bought the eggs off of said his birds didnt start laying until 5-6 months old? only comb is big, watlles and earlobes are same size, just redder.
here is the hen i was talking about yesterday... she is the dominant one. i noticed all these changes the next day
this pick was taken march 15, 2013 ------ 99 days old, her legs here are yellower than last pic
here you can see how much bigger her comb got in one day ------ 114 days old
this is her vent
her legs are paler than she used to be.

My seramas were inside over winter, and they kept waking me up around 4 am with their crowing.I started putting them in a small dog crate or box at night to sleep, and letting them out when I woke up. They didn't crow as much and it muffled what crows they did and wasn't so bad. Now that they are outside they seem more occupied with more to do, and haven't been crowing nearly as much at all.![]()
