American serama thread!

again... overnight changes with my serama! last week she was 17.49 ounces. i just weighed her at 18.80 ounces with an empty crop!!! comb and wattles even bigger! almost like a rooster. and vent defiantly got wider! OK now for the best part! i think shes squatting! she only does it when i walk behind her fast... not when i pet her! and she did it 5 times before not doing it anymore. what do you guys think? when you guys think the eggs are comin?

she just turned 4 months yesterday!

My babies are growing up! but not too big, I have a LCO hatchling they have been keeping company and well hes bigger than them! They are almost a month old.

My girl is the most dominant in my coop... Do you think tha the hormones are making her lay early then?
Has she started laying yet? I noticed mine started getting really red combs and wattles, etc. the week or so before they started. My one dominant started after the other ones. Each bird is different and I think what your pullet is going through is perfectly normal for her.

My little Taco house buddy. I woke up and the bedroom door was open so naturally Taco went exploring. The bathroom is his new favorite place. Found him on the counter crowing away!
With his cute new diaper. Shipped out a few diapers yesterday and was in the zone so I had to make Taco a couple new ones too.

He finally discovered the dog station. The water is great, means I don't have to fill his water bottle in the bedroom as often. But is the dog food bad for him? I haven't seen him really go at it, but he does occasionally peck at it.

Woke up a few hours ago to find not only one, but TWO eggs have externally pipped! Today is only day 20, so the others still have plenty of time! I do have one question though. One of the eggs that pipped... he pipped in the middle of the shell. Do you think he'll be able to zip on his own? How long should I wait to assist if he shows no progress? I know they can rest for up to 24 hours after pipping, but how long should I wait after those 24 hours? I don't want to lose a chick just because I'm uninformed or scared to help. For now though, I'm just sitting on my hands and watching closely.

Here's the egg that pipped in a good spot!
