I've heard of these! They look nice and simple but when I was researching diapers it says that extended used can damage their wing carriage giving them life long "angel wing" and sometimes causing difficulty breathing (although I would assume that is from not graduating to a larger sock as they grow)I would recommend finding her a couple of bantam friends. Seramas are generally too small to get on well with LF birds, especially alone. OEGB, Dutch Bantam, and Silkies are all breeds I have kept with seramas. D'uccles also mix quite well with them.
Here is a pattern for you for a diaper I used for my Emu. Basically the same. Red is the leg holes, blue is a strap that goes around the front of the breast, and yellow is the edge which is cut from the sock and would be the front, and green is the tail hole. I just cut up a maxi pad and put it in the bottom to absorb some poop.
WOW!!! You lucky duck!Oh my, that's neat-o Sumatra! Only thing I can think of is that it does seem to restrict wing movement....
Really interesting, didn't realize their physique was so different kukupecpec!
Well, I have 5 baby Seramas in the 'bator now 3 blonds and 2 darks. I have at least 2 that are pipped, but don't know if I'll get more to hatch?? I sure hope I do! My minimum was to have 8 to hatch so I might get 4 females, minimum. Ugh, I really hope more hatch!
and of course, the new aviary is not finished, and heavier than a SOB! How are we gonna get it into the house? Worse still, it's supposed to rain tonight, and it's out in the yard, LOL![]()
Not a SINGLE one of my eggs has pipped yet =(
I'll candle in the morning if there is no pipping. I'm wondering if I locked down a bit early? I wrote in my calendar that Monday was day 19, but maybe I counted wrong...
