American serama thread!

Oh, I wanted to say that my "core group" Sirius, Harriet, Luna and Hermione got to run around outside yesterday, and I had so much fun watching Hermione who found every spider around, and was having a grand ol time eating them, ROFL, she was just too cute running around with spiders in her beak! Wish I had taken pictures!

Well I am now a Serama owner

1 baby hatched last night, it is so tiny, will post pics once it is all fluffed up. The only sad thing is I think it might be the only one to hatch. The other eggs ares not doing anything

The part that has me worried is, if it is the only 1 what should I do? I have 2 week old LF chicks so I am sure if I put it in with them, they would crush it, but I don't want it to be all by itself.

i had one to hatch one time too. its better because they are attached to you and will follow you and love you as chicks. my hen is 6 months old and still follows me around outside! i have eight serama chicks from the same person who sold me my hens egg; and they hate me lol! trust me! as long as you pet it everyday and give it treats and love it, it will love you forever! and by the time its alittle bigger, it can follow you around your house and stuff like a little dog or something! i love the way my hen turned out!

I can finally help!!! No, the calcium is to high in the layer feed. It causes issues with internal organs and can lead to early death.

Hello Serama Lovers! =)
Happy Saturday! Man I had a super busy week, glad to just be chillin on the computer lol.

So I am taking all the girls, the silkie boys, and a TBD dominant boy (Probably Toy) to school on Wednesday (for toe nail trim practice for all us students, and for funsies) so I had to crank out some diapers and re-vamp some old ones. Got some pictures! Toy and Lucy took to them RIGHT away, Elena always takes a little time to warm up to them, but after an hour of "OMG I CAN'T MOVE" is just fine, Berry was unsure but I think she just needs practice, and Lacey exploded her wings out and wouldn't move. We will see about her, don't want to stress her out unnecessarily. Everyone else is already used to the diapers.

Toy

Berry and Elena

Berry and Elena the camera hog

Lucy - the test subject because she was so chill about it - she has ribbon holding her diaper on while I worked on a new concept- I changed the front straps so they are adjustable! Will help with minor body size differences, but will still have to have Sm Md and Lg - Toy would be XL but his is custom so he's fine.

And King of the Castle - Toy

I had a question about Elena, I have noticed she is making a weird "coughing" noise. I don't know how to describe it, she makes it RIGHT at 7 seconds. In the video, it is AFTER her initial squeak when I mess with her, but during the day she makes JUST the coughing noise, and it seems to be her normal "cluck" talking voice. Just wondering if anyone knows if that's a normal voice

Heres what you do: get a little stuffed animal, a feather duster and a mirror that will fit in the brooder. These are all for the wee ones comfort. IF you can split your existing brooder in two by ways of hardware cloth or a piece of plexiglass where the fuzzies can see eachother but not touch even better! Comfort and saftey all at once! OH and if you work, take a couple weeks off work so you can spend alll your time snuggling with that single fuzz.
p.s. better yet, just send fuzzy to me... :p
