American serama thread!

BEYOND ADORABLE!!!! Wish I could help you with Elana, but being almost deaf, I cannot hear things like that...

Thanks! I love having everybody running around. Shame it's so much work to change EVERYbodys diapers or I would have them all out like that all at once! I'm super excited to be able to use diapers on different birds though! That will make life much easier.
That's ok, she SEEMS fine, she just sounds funny. I actually like it cause I can tell when she is talking!
I've totally taken to Toy though! I think Taco may just have been bumped from the Favorite slot! He follows me around and takes every chance he gets to hop on my shoulder or head. He also likes sewing. I am going to have to be extra careful not to sew him right into the diapers! Silly boy

I think most people either separate them from the flock, or move the flock over to "flock raiser". I have never let a broody raise any chicks so I don't have experience with either. I just hatch the chicks and keep them in a brooder eating chick starter until it is time to put them in with the flock.

Hey guys! m hen went "fake broody again? this is #5. maybe today will be different but i don't know. if i give her an egg she will put it under her, and she hisses at me when i open the coop. but lets just say she does hatch chicks, can i leave them in the coop with layer feed?
HI,
I separate the hen and chicks till the hen tells me she is through mothering............I feed the hen and chicks chick starter and I am sure you know to
grind the chicks food in the beginning. .Good Luck..........

1 baby hatched last night, it is so tiny, will post pics once it is all fluffed up. The only sad thing is I think it might be the only one to hatch. The other eggs ares not doing anything

The part that has me worried is, if it is the only 1 what should I do? I have 2 week old LF chicks so I am sure if I put it in with them, they would crush it, but I don't want it to be all by itself.
Also, if you don't mind, you could go to the feed store and see if they have chicks, and add a chick to the brooder.
Hello Serama Lovers! =)
Happy Saturday! Man I had a super busy week, glad to just be chillin on the computer lol.

So I am taking all the girls, the silkie boys, and a TBD dominant boy (Probably Toy) to school on Wednesday (for toe nail trim practice for all us students, and for funsies) so I had to crank out some diapers and re-vamp some old ones. Got some pictures! Toy and Lucy took to them RIGHT away, Elena always takes a little time to warm up to them, but after an hour of "OMG I CAN'T MOVE" is just fine, Berry was unsure but I think she just needs practice, and Lacey exploded her wings out and wouldn't move. We will see about her, don't want to stress her out unnecessarily. Everyone else is already used to the diapers.

...
I had a question about Elena, I have noticed she is making a weird "coughing" noise. I don't know how to describe it, she makes it RIGHT at 7 seconds. In the video, it is AFTER her initial squeak when I mess with her, but during the day she makes JUST the coughing noise, and it seems to be her normal "cluck" talking voice. Just wondering if anyone knows if that's a normal voice
Oh my gosh, kuku, she is the MOST adorable thing! I love her squeeky coughs! LOL, nah, that's just her voice!!!
But how do i keep them in the coop without them eating the layer feed?
Give them grower/chick starter and a separate dish of oyster shell for calcium. The chicks won't touch it. Neither will the boys.

My goodness! This thread is busy, busy, busy!

I hatched a SeramaXOld English game bantam cross about 2 1/2 weeks ago. She(
fl.gif
) is the cutest little thing ever! Only about the size of a walnut! She is the result from a crele OEGB, crossed with a really nice looking Serama cock. I mean he was just downright gorgeous. He had a huge tail, and nice form.

Eee! I really cannot wait to watch her grow up!

Quote: My TLC already stopped selling and the only other place that sells chicks year round is across town. If none hatch, I may make the trip tomorrow. See if they have any bantams breeds available. I would love a super lovey baby but I am gone all day. Too bad I can't take it to work with me

I got some pictures of her, though her little broodmate (an OEGB cockerel) kept getting in front of her. He's such a good little boy!

Isn't she just so cute?

Here is the cockerel, giving the stink eye. XD
