American serama thread!

I have no idea how long he was stuck like that. He was just pipping when I left him at about 10pm and I didn't see him again until 9 the next morning. He is a few days old now though so I would think any hatching fatigue would have subsided by now.

Have you tried giving him some Poly-vi-sol yet? It might be a good idea kuku..Is he eating and drinking?

I just got my first Serama yesterday! Her name is Gabby because when I hold her she talks to me. She is in my home and will remain with me inside. I knew nothing about the breed but a nice lady told me how calm and friendly they are. I was at a show and watched when they were judged..I am very impressed and will have lots of questions. I have Silkies but did not find any for sale so then I saw the Seramas. She came from a gentleman from Indiana. Anything special I should know about this breed and the care of them?q

Seramas are the BOMB!!!! They are the coolest, most funnest critters on the planet!! So glad you discovered them.....OH and :welcome
You really should get her a friend [well besides you] as they do like their own company. IF Gabby is going to be living inside with you then you don't have to worry about the cold winters, so that problem is solved!
Be careful not to give them big pieces of food [they can choke] other than that, they are like any other human..oops I mean chicken....but you do have to be very careful because they will STEAL YOUR HEART AND NOT LET GO! :yesss:

How about the roosters? How do they interact with humans? My DH thinks we should have a rooster. Also I don't want a rooster to mess up Gabby's saddle feathers. When I was a kid we had a Banty rooster that was the meanest little thing. He would chase you all over yard. Lol

I LOVED my roo! Unfortunately I can't have Roos where I live so I rehomed him to a nice lady that breeds them. Now he will have girlfriends and be happy.

I have yet to see a ornery Serama roo. Yes some are a little too over the top with the hens [like all chicken breeds] but for the most part they are just as nice as a hen in my book. I have 2roos that live together with an assortment of hens and they are great together...

My Roo's are as sweet as can be. love to be held and talked to.
I have not had a problem with a Serama Roo being rough on my hens............
Someone else may have had a different experience.............................
