American serama thread!

I only have 6 but i do free range them, They hang pretty close to their house for now. they are 2 months old and have only been running free for a couple of weeks, but so far so good. (knock on wood)

Neat little birds. I have questions, having no experience with this breed.  What little I've read, the assumption is you can't put roosters together. At what age will they start fighting. If this is the case, how do you house the roosters and/or cockerels and still be practical? How much square footage is suitable per bird, regardless of how many are together? Does anyone successfully free range? Where is the best place to gather information on raising, breeding and showing Seramas? Thanks.

I had two Roos and five hens together. Adults. They did great. The Roos wer always together. They had their favorite hens. I never saw them fight once.

So how old do Roos have to be to breed. We have a 4 month old and some that are 2 months old just curious. And I am in SW GA if anyone would like some Serrama's. Don't know if I would ship. My son loves them and let's the hen set then we have lots of chickens.

Generally speaking around 5-6 months they are testing the waters with the girls and trying out their vocal cords..... ;)

So far Wilfred is the only one that is looking roo.....can you have roos by your house? They are all so cute! HECK, serama roos are so small compared to a LF roo you could hide a bunch of them with no problems... :yesss: ;)
