American serama thread!

Ducks! I had them. I would recommend a fenced area...... I think every time they take a step stuff shoots out the back of those critters! Not conducive to a stroll around the yard if you get my meaning.

they would be fenced. can they live alongside chickens? (standards)
any tips for me? lol

I have about 90 chickens (large fowl all the way down to serama) and about 25 bantam call ducks. They do fine together. They pretty much stay to themselves though. For the most part the calls are kept enclosed but occasionally I will let them free range for a few

Remind me to never get ducks. enough of that stuff going around here.

I had the chickens turkeys geese and ducks all doused together. Have two coops to seperate them but they chose to run and roost together! The chickens and such used to poo on the poor things at night. Another thing is the waterer the ducks were terrible with the waterer they would empty one in a matter of minutes. They would get in there and just chattertheir beaks together and splash all the water out.

you cant keep drakes with hens though right?  wonder if LF roosters would look at serama roosters as babies

I have a nipple water system in all 10 coops including the duck coop but when I fill their pools out in their run they splash it everywhere. Yes, the drakes and hens stay together. I have about 8 drakes in the group

I don't let my large fowl anywhere near my serama. I had a little male get out last year when I opened the door to their run to go in and feed. In a matter of seconds he was gone. One of the large fowl either though he was a chick or a small rodent or something and snapped him right up. They do fine with the normal bantams (cochins, duccles, wyandottes) but the serama are just too small. They have their own "free range" time inside of a large covered puppy play pen

I did with no issues. As far as the seramas although they are small they have huge egos from what i've read and will not hesitate to confront a full grown rooster. I have never personally put them together

idk what kind of duck ill get but ill get atleast two from TSC and as for seramas and LF roos napoleon and emily were in their own little playpen earlier and my phoenix roo and napoleon tried to get into it through the wall of the playpen XD it was funny
