American serama thread!

This roo was born first week of August. I'm always shocked by how fast they grow! The roos show early, too.. I can usually tell by the second week with almost total accuracy. Hunches tend to be pretty spot on.

Hello everyone. I hatched ten Seramas (4 Roosters and 6 hens) that are now 23 weeks old. I have been using a 3 pound hanging feeder and feeding them crumble feed. I know they are eating the feed but it winds up all over the ground. What is the best feeder to use with Seramas that will have less wasted?
I also can't seem to find a nest box the hens like. I have a box style nest box and a basket with eggs in it but they just keep laying their eggs on the ground. I don't know what to do please help.

for the nesting boxes I would take some fake eggs, Like plastic or wood, and put them in the nest box. they should get the idea within a week or two

There are probably better solutions out there, but I use dog dishes for the feed with either a smaller bowl inside a big bowl or a rock inside the bowl, so they can't scratch in it. Most of my nest boxes are plastic boxes, but one of the favorites is a rabbit nest box.

Oh, yes. I've had their own eggs in the nest boxes for a few days now. I plan to take the eggs out and toss them and put the little fake eggs in today. All my other breeds got it when I placed eggs in the nest boxes for them. Not understanding the Seramas. I have one nest box about 6" off the ground and the other at about 2' off the ground. Their roost is at about 3' off the ground. I know to keep nest boxes lower than the roost. Should I put another nest box right on the ground?
