American serama thread!

I have nine new serama chicks-three days old. The problem is I can already see some that need to be culled; and no one wanting them. It's the pits living in Northern Wisconsin where few people are interested in "pet" chickens. Come spring the wife and I and pets are moving south.

If you could ship id take some. I love them they are adorable and so sweet

@Scovy Momma your little serama is so cute!!
Thanks! I think so, too

How can I train my Serama to stand up tall

Seramas naturally will stand like soldiers IF they have SQ breeding in them already. I know tht this is very very generalized, but if they do not do it naturally and they do not have the build (short back, big chest etc) no amount of "training" will give them that. All you can "train" is for them to be more animated and encourage them to stay in that upright position for at least 90 seconds on the table.
The saying: "you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear" holds true for this.
Here is an example:
NO amount of training will ever make this serama boy look like a soldier,

It also helps when the birds are exited because The cockerel in my avatar usually looks like that in the pic, then when we got to a show, he stood up very tall, and if he crowed he would have gotten at leaf a 75 on his score card. he got a perfect score on his wings i think it was... He was very proud of himself
