American serama thread!

An oddity-I noticed yesterday that one of my new chicks (3 days old) was picking up bits of food and chirping much like a rooster does when calling hens to come for a found tidbit. I have seen the chick do this many times. I have never seen this behavior in a tiny chick before. Has anyone else? A rooster?

Never have seen that

What days have most of your serama eggs pipped? Mine are on day 20. I know that they have made an internal pip, because I can hear them chirping some times.

This is a picture of Tiny Tim. I thought he was 4 days old, but after looking at the calendar, he is 6 days old; time flies by too fast.
17 grams while most of his siblings are between 25-30 grams. I do hope this one is a rooster-all of my roosters are too large for what I want. Tiny has one sibling that is 1 gram more in size. My wife named that one Teeny.

Today is day 20 for me. I know that a few have internal pips because I can hear them peeping(since last night) should I give them more time

Incubator? If you are sure that the humidity/temperature has been correct, yes, give them more time. I have read that serama can hatch anywhere between 15-21 days depending on strain and size. Good luck.

Yes the temp and humidity are correct. I just looked though the window to check for a pip. And I saw one! Guess I didn't really need to worry after all.

I looked in the bator and I have a pip!!

Yeah! I wish I had a pip on my frizzle serama. Our weather took a big dip in temperature and even my heated coop feels cold. I have a few tiny chicks; I'm about ready to bring one hen and the smaller chicks in the house until they get a bit bigger. At the moment I have two hens caring for their nine chicks together. It's rather neat how these serama team up to raise chicks.

It really is. The egg that pipped was actually from a frizzled pair(only the roo was frizzled. So I hope mine is frizzled
