American serama thread!

It sure has. There has been three clutches since I changed. The first-90% nine out ten eggs. The second-100% four out of four eggs. The third-83% five out of six eggs-providing nothing goes wrong and the five actually hatch.

Now I've put the first rooster with my young pullet. Their characteristics seem to mesh better.

Thats good!
All the eggs under my broody are fertile! About 4 are from my birds!
Yay!

I promise I'm not laying that really was her egg. She is all alone right now and I came in from working on fence and there it was! I was surprised to at the size of it. That egg is the same size as my class c seramas egg.

Hold on a minute!  I've seen big eggs from little hens before.  Accusations of lying was not my intention at all

No, no!!!! Sorry I wasn't be accusatory! I was being sarcastic as in laugh laugh I'm not lying I promise (with a big grin and hands up in the air).... I'm sorry you thought I was being afensive.

Here are updates on the chicks that are turning out really nice from my last batch.

The rooster (named him Finn)

Another rooster (named frizzy)

Ow my! I thought just the opposite; that you believed that I was being offensive. I am just happy for you that Porky is doing so well. How about shipping me some of her eggs? HAHA But seriously, I wish that were possible

Thank you! Your Frizzy is so cute! Do you know of any of her recent chicks that hatched are frizzles yet?

No, not yet. Her first four hatched Friday/Saturday. I assume that I will be able to tell as soon as their feathers start coming in. Five more of her eggs hatch next Saturday. My Frizzy is the bottom of the pecking order; even beneath the half grown birds. While they usually leave her alone when she is brooding, I wasn't willing to take the chance of her being forced off the nest and loosing the chicks, so I fostered her eggs to dominant hens and gave Frizzy dummy eggs to brood. When the eggs begin to hatch I'm giving them back to Frizzy to raise. Frizzy and family will be spending at least a week on the dining room table until the chicks are able to avoid aggression.

Lol!
Well actually I ran out of temp cages today, got some new ones and had to out her in the serama coop today with my others. Luckily days are going to be in the low 70's and nights in the low to mid 50's and they still have an optional heat lamp if they want it so I think she will be fine (staying warm wise). And I pulled my little serama rooster and had him in with her all day so they got to buddy up and then put them both in the coop after dark when everyone was roosting so hopefully he will protect her tomorrow when they all wake up. That being said I am going to wait a few days and start collecting her eggs and try to hatch a few myself!!!!
