Anyone know of any other breeders who have birds with the "squeaker" gene? Castle Delight Seramas only have one old roo with it so that seems to be a dead end, and Bluegrass Seramas haven't responded to my message and don't seem to post much on FB anymore - not sure if they are breeding and/or selling anymore.

That's a good question. If you find any, please post the info back here. I will do the same should I come across anyone else who has them.

Thank you for responding. Is dubbing when they remove the comb? If so then, no. They were previously housed outside with little peotection from the wind. The rooster got frostbite and lost his tips. They were a little rough when I got them. Long nails and such. I did mix some fresh homemade kifer in with their feed and she loved it. She seems a little more alert today as well.

Maria is our first hen to start laying at just over 4 months old. We found her 1st egg less than 2 weeks ago. She's gone broody already! I can't believe it. She has 1 egg under there, not sure if I should try to break her or let her be. I cooked one of her eggs yesterday and it had a perfect bullseye.

Of twenty serama eggs that were shipped and placed under broody hens, eleven hatched.

I would say that is a very good hatch rate for shipped Serama eggs.

Has anyone boughten eggs online and stuck them under a broody? If so how was the hatch rate?

From what I have read Serama (and I'd assume any very small) eggs don't ship super well. I hatched one batch from Ebay and got about a 1/3 hatch rate, and I have another in the incubator that I think will be similar. I think Seramas are hard to incubate even without shipping, and though you'd probably have better luck under a broody than in the bator, but I'd say with shipped eggs order enough that if only 25% hatch you will have a number you are ok with. If you have more like 50% hatch all the better and you can sell any extra you don't want.

I found an egg today. Surely 12 weeks is too young for a serama to lay, isn't it?

It was in a nest box in a coop that is currently unoccupied. I cleared that coop a couple days ago, and I'm not sure when I last looked in the box. A broody OEGB and her youngens were in it, but it doesn't look like one of her eggs and I dont think she would be laying again yet, but its possibly hers. I also have a couple other OEGB girls that I just got, it could be theirs, but they would have to have snuck in there quickly today, because they haven't had access to that coop until today. The serama have had the easiest access, other than that momma hen.

My wheezy girl seems to be doing much better but her eyes still seem off. Actually the area around the eye. She never has the big round eye like all our other chickens. She kinda looks tired. I don't really see anything wrong though. She eats drinks and attempts to cackle with the others - she's tiny and sounds weird Do you think there is something I need to watch for or do some chickens just look tired like some people do and I just haven't come across it before? She kept trying to sleep shile I held her. She is not a model who takes direction.

Does anyone here have a breeding pair of seramas forsale and can ship I don't want anyone to ship very far so if possible I would like them to be from a or somewhere around pa and isn't a 10 hour drive for shipping.
