American serama thread!

I got some chicks by mistake! They were supposed to be silkie eggs, but when they hatched today they definitely weren't silkies. The lady said her daughter must have accidentally marked the malaysian serama eggs as silkie. Anyway, now I have 5. Someone said they're too big to be malaysian serama. Opinions?

This is my littlest one. I'm going to say she's right. I mean, why would she lie? They're smaller than my bantam silkies, which are tiny! Thanks for the comparison.

Looks possible to me. I'd go more by egg size and in the end you may just have to wait for the birds to grow out and see how they look as adults. Serama eggs are notably smaller, in most cases, than a typical bantam egg.

Let me post a chick pic for you to compare though. This is one of my chicks hatched on the 11th (so 4 days old today).

Once the remaining chicks are dry I'll inspect what's left of the eggs. There were some smaller eggs in the mix for sure, because I was hoping they were gonna be runt bantam silkies!

Out of the 11 that went into lock down 9 hatched. Only 4 of them are silkies.

Here are some of my eggs for comparison. The leftmost egg is from a cochin bantam. The other 4 are seramas. It's a little hard to tell from the pic but the left egg is considerably more rotund than the others. I can't speak to what silkies lay as mine are not of laying age yet. I imagine it's similar to the cochin egg.
