American serama thread!

Hello!!!! :hugs
Good to bump into you here! I haven't been on BYC a whole lot for awhile. Kinda got burned by somebody and made it feel like not such a happy place.
Things are pretty good down here. It's been hot, but had a few thunderstorms recently, so not horrible dry. Had to send someone up with a rebuilt door to the SeaRanch chapel. It was vandalized.
How are things in your half of the state?
Sad about the personal burn.
And the vandalism. Such a pretty door and peaceful place but I guess it can happen anywhere.
Hot here as well. Record for July of 20+ days of over 100 degrees. High 90's now much better. So dry

This place has a way of turning one's stomach at times. Sorry for the troubles though.

Probably the same things you got ;)
Mostly too many Seramas! I just have to keep hatching to see what certain pairings produce, but then have to sell others to keep making room.

Exactly!
I'm just praying the last hen that wants to brood this year hatched hers 3 weeks ago. Knock on wood! I have 3 that did 2 rounds this year.

Hey question for everyone... I hatched the most adorable little silkied fella, but he has a few feather stubbles on his upper legs. I know which hen is throwing the stubbles, so i won't hatch any more of her eggs. But he is the only silkied boy i have right now, and i really want to see his offspring with my silkies girls. How hard is it to breed out the stubbles?

A few recent pics of a couple of my silkied kids

I just found a person on Craigslist who breeds seramas a few weeks ago, they are so cute and neat. I took two home and they were super skiddish at first, but they are coming around.
Currently I am working on getting them integrated in with my two bigger girls... Anyone have much experience with this? I couldn't find much info around when I looked. I'm just taking things very slow and keeping a close eye on everybody. So far, the two little seramas seem very happy to be living a life out of a cage.

Very pretty!!

Many here have much more experience with them than i do, but i find it easier to integrate as young as possible. I have 2 hens raising chicks right now, and several are silkied, and will be moved to my silkied pen as soon as mommas let them go.

I find my hens to be quite territorial, and can get brutal at times, but as long as they have separation room, places for the non-dominant ones to run and hide, i try to let them work it out. I've only had to remove on cockerel that the hens ganged up on and darn near killed him.

96 & I'm finding it Difficult to find any Pullets FS here in W. WA .

Just pullets or can you take a pair? There are a lot of good breeders in western WA, but few people will let go of pullets without a male. In any case, I can point you in the direction of a couple facebook groups for the NW region if you're interested. One is for questions/chat, the other for sales/ISO.
