Sooooooo, long story super short I won a pair from Grady Taylor in a raffle at a show this weekend. The personality is very nice. I'm amazed at the width of the heads- and since I raise silkies and SLW I definitely appreciate a wide head.
He's a bit large, to me the type seems nice. She's short legged, but otherwise nice. Problem is they aren't a standard color. They're at my house now, housed separately in cages with shavings (quite large, don't want to damage feathers), it's a cockerel and pullet and she is currently laying. I've been one of the people who has grumbled about seramas being "all kinds of weird colors".... (like what the heck is cocopop? cocopuff?) and I thought of them as a very upright, smaller, OEG.... but I'm actually shocked at the great temperament of these birds. I now understand why they are so well liked.
There's a lot of challenges ahead for the SCNA, but what a delightful little bird! I'll be excited to see how the black, white, mottled, wheaten, black tailed buff, etc lines come along. You guys have a jewel and a great advocate in Mr. Mongold. Just wanted to drop in and give praise where praise is due- what nice little birds!
