American serama thread!

How much success should I expect from these 2?

They just started laying 2 weeks ago, the little Birchen hen is super small about 9.6 oz. They are both snuggled into this 8"x8" nest box. I also don't know how many eggs they are on but I know its at least 5. It has been 4 days and every time I check on them they haven't budged. I guess its contagious..

That is too cute!!!

I don't think I have any hens or pullets that would share a nest like that. They are all divas, or non layers.....

I can't think of any that might sit with another without going for the jugular....

Just got back from Ohio Nationals. There were some great looking Seramas there. I was supper lucky & picked up a pair of Frizzled Whites & a Silkied Cockeral!

My son showed a little cockeral from this years hatch, he got a 74 on tabletop, and I was shocked this morning when I looked at the APA/ABA standard card & saw that he went RV for AOV! He's super young, and I almost sent him to the auction the last week when I was clearing out for some extra cage space for the winter!

Glad i decided to hold onto him longer & see how he developed! lol

I've had several hens who shared nests. Some do really well but most do not. I don't know if it gets too hot or if the eggs get turned too much/not enough, but they never seem to have good hatches. Though I did have a pair of 'cochilkies' hatch 18 of 21 eggs together this summer....that was interesting
