I think Gordon, my roo, is molting his tail right now. I've been noticing a few missing feathers, and some on the ground. Maybe when they grow back, he'll actually get some sickles!!!

Is there a food that Seramas like that hastens feather growth? I've heard BOSS, buy my banties wont eat it.

Can't wait to see some pics of your oegbs.....this is what you will get if you X them;

blue wheaten to blue wheaten sport = 50% blue wheaten 50% blue wheaten sport

blue wheaten sport to blue wheaten sport = 100% blue wheaten sport

blue wheaten to Blue wheaten = 50% blue wheaten, 25% blue wheaten sport, 25% wheaten

Why didn't you call me when you go buy your birds???? I have always been a big fan of oegb, specially the spangled variety.

if u want joey u can come with me to gumbii's place as i am going to go get some birds from him and ur advise would be well appreciated as i am getting into oegb and seramas.

SO my 4 year old has become quite the serama snob. She really only wants to hold or play with the seramas. We have an indoor brooder box and it has a few serama, silkies, and a few mutt chicks. Well I was trying to decide who was big enough to go into the grow out pen. There was a mutt chick that I couldn't find in the box. I was panicing that maybe, just maybe, I had left the lid open one day and a dog got it, I was frantically searching for it and starting to panic. I called my 4 year old in to help me and she pointed to a certain chick and I said no that is one of the seramas. She said "mom that is way to big, member(remember) seramas are really little." I looked and sure enough she was right. How is that she can keep them all straight and I can't even tell the seramas apart from the full size chicks. It has been a long day, but really!!

Anyone raise their incubator hatched chicks on sand? I am really thinking about trying it with some 2 week olds. There are so many of them that they get the tank dirty super quick.
Plan on moving them to a plastic bottomed guinea pig cage and put sand inthe bottom. That way I can just scoop the poop, I hope. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks
