American serama thread!

Hi everyone, i am back after being stunned by the loss of my Joe- apparently like the others i have lost, a heart condition- very discouraging, i got him the same time i got Boaz, June had taken me back to pick out a cockerel and he hopped right out of the cage like he chose to go home with us- i knew he wasn't doing good and spend saturday holding him hoping he'd pull through- i know you guys know what thats like!

I am always thankful for June giving him to me and showing me how wonderful they are-

OH, so so so sorry!
Thanks Cluck-Cluck! I appreciate your wisdom and taking the time to help me out. I have so much to learn and every tidbit helps.
Oh, you're welcome, and I hope I don't ever steer you wrong! My fingers are

for an excellent hatch rate!

Need advice: Noel hatched last night beautifully, and oddly looks like Joe? Hmm..
#4 pipped at 7:30 a.m. yesterday. The same as Noel. This morning no progress at all, but strong lungs. Another that pipped last night is halfway out. Is it okay to be pipped for 24 hrs.?

what i have done in a case like that is just crack the shell a little - widening it just a tad, but it can take up to 48 hours, monitor the peeping closely

I've done the same thing. In my last hatch I had one that took over 30 hours. I would zip a little bit of the shell and then put it back in the incubator for about an hour. Take it out, zip a little more until the whole thing was zipped and that's all the chick had to do was push itself out.

Thanks for the great advice, I did it, went to the bus stop and came home to the membrane split wide. Half hour later my little black chick was out. Guess that was all the help she needed. #4 (now Snowball) just popped out a minute ago. 1 more is hatching, but might take a while.2 more pips, and 4 I'm waiting on. I am in love!!!! If anyone can tell me how to post pics from an IPod Touch4, I 'll do it.

ok double guessing what I already asked about 300 threads ago!!!

Supposed to, LOL, but they sometimes surprise you! I think I ran my incubator on the upper side of 99.5 (meaning closer to 100) and mine pipped early, really early! This time, I have my inubator holding between 99.0 (at the coldest time in the morning) and 99.5 at the warmest time of the day. I'm leaving it there! Hopefully that plus my adjustment for the humidity will give me an excellent hatch (barring the post office shaking my eggs up??)
