American serama thread!

I have a couple questions because I have ,my first set of eggs in the bator, (6 days til Dday ) and the veins look unusually large is this normal? And junebug, after looking at your site, I would really appreciate your openion on my pair as breeders because their eggs are the ones in the bator I would love to know if i made a good choice?

Everything I am telling you is true. I am glad you recognize that. So why not just get some nankins and oegb, throw in a few japanese bantams and breed "serama". That is really no different from what really happend.

And I hate to say it, but those couple birds pictures ARE kapan. If you don't want to hear the truth, don't listen. But those of us who have seen true serama in person and these American Kapans are telling the real story. The body proportions are way off, much larger and not of type when relaxed. That is a kapan.

There will be real serama (actually are a small number now) in the U.S. They exist in a couple other countries now. They have begun the process of correcting their flocks, and hopefully at some point, we will have opportunity to do the same.

I have really cool small chickens too! I think we should just request to rename the thread, "The Ayam Kapan, Imposter American Serama, Smallest Chicken in The World, Or Whatever The *#$! You Wanna Call your Bird Thread". I think I covered it all.

sounds like a great idea Just blocled Tim, the negativity and insults were getting rather annoying. and I am a server I have to deal with annyoing enough in RL.

Do you think I'm CRAZY!!! I know when to keep my mouth shut.....but since you asked.....I don't think that the 'name' or 'label' that we call something by is all that important. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet'. The 'American Serama' is nothing like the 'Malaysian Serama'. Even the 'Traditional Serama' is nothing like the 'Malaysian Serama'. And that's all O.K. with me...doesn't bother me....keeping in mind that this forum is partially show people and partially pet people, we sometimes have friction when we forget that we all have different goals. We're on this forum to enjoy our birds and each other. We need to tolerate our differences and share the things we do have in common. It does bother me that I see a lot of pet quality birds being touted as 'quality birds', but since this is not a 'show forum' so its O.K. to let it pass.

Thank You Junebug. That all sounded so much nicer coming from you, (even the last part). I think it may have gone a little smoother if it had been presented a little more tactfully, AND by NOT calling specific people's birds into question. Oh, and for the record, my Serama are not quality, by any means, and I absolutely know it.LOL!!!!

I'm sorry, but those do not conform to the Ayam Kapan standards. I wouldn't breed them

(I know you're wanting real evaluations, but I'm not qualified so I'll hush up other than, they are better looking than my babies!!! But I still love my babies!)
