American serama thread!

So the consensus is boy and girl pair eh? That would be nice, although I still gotta cross my fingers for two girls hehe
Waddles are the fleshy things under the chin right? I don't actually see any of that yet... it's still all fuzzy haha.

LOL!! You know, I take for granted the awesome brooder that DH built me, and forget that not everyone has a birdseye view of their chicks. The brooder is on an island with a viewing window, so when I sit in a chair for morning coffee and such, they walk up and I'm always seeing the bottom of their chins. The waddles are there, just tucked up in the fluff, on boys and girls. They come out quicker than the comb, it's just so subtle, you have to be on the lookout, and the best time to see them that small is when they are taking a drink. But once again it's the vantage point you get to see them from.

Some days you can't get my butt off of this chair, especially when I have a new batch of chicks in there, like now. I'll just sit there all day watching chick antics. Drives DH crazy.

That is an awesome brooder, and your daughter looks just like my eldest daughter's best friend. Both of them are studying in Europe right now, so proud of them for being so adventurous! Best friends since the 1st grade :) I miss them

Oh man that is awesome!!! It's such a joy to have handy and willing men around! I love building my own things, but DH went to school for engineering so he's better at making my crazy designs actually stay together with his building understanding. I just start throwing wood in a pile and nailing crap together in the shape I think I want HA. I STILL haven't finished my big dresser brooder outside, but I'm currently on my equivalent of a summer break from school until March 18th, so I'm not working either and that extra cash is what supports my animal obsession ha.

I will have to look a little harder for their waddles... they are in a pet store rabbit cage right next to my bed so I watch them constantly - I live in my bedroom because we live with my in-laws, my MIL is great, doesn't speak any English, but my husbands High School Freshman brother is a HUGE pain in the you-know-what causing all kinds of family drama so I just stick to my little bedroom oasis - and although they are just about the same level as me, I can't really see under their little fuzzy heads without manhandling them haha.

I LOVE that second picture! Those while and black feathers are just to die for! So far all I'm getting are browns, which are lovely, but nothing beats black and white! My Taco is black whit a little white. I hope his GF starts laying so I can hatch out some of their babies.

So I know this is the Serama thread, but my other regular thread has soooo many people posting everyday it's just not as tight or familiar a little group. So I'm going to post this here! Lol
I got 7 random local backyard mix eggs off CL for $5 to run a test hatch with full size eggs before my BLRW shipment comes. I hadn't seen ANY development the entire incubation, everything just looked dark from day 1 so everything was a gamble. This morning ALL 7 OF THEM are pipping

Oh! and had to share Turtle's child-pass-out moment...

I leave their door open all the time if I'm home, even if I'm not in my room, and put a nice rope on the bar so they have something to hold on to. Without a nice roost in their cage, they have taken to hanging out and napping in the doorway. Last night, Turtle was a little worn out... LOL

I think that's awesome. I love hatching, it's so stinking addicting, and exhilarating! I just hatched out 12 BLRW's, 2 EE's, & 3OE's, 3 days ago, and just ordered a batch of Barnevelder eggs for the Easter Hatchalong!! HATCHING WISHES COMING YOUR WAY!!!!
