Not Serama but the newest additions to my chicken "family".. Margaux (The light one, came from a Blue Mille Fleur egg) and Melanie (the black mottled one) PLEASE be pullets, little D'Uccles!!!

I think female chickens usually feather in more quickly, so even though the pullet is the same age, her feathers might be a little more grown in. Just give them time on the roo. Frizzles do differ slightly, just like one person might have curly hair that waves one way, and another person slightly different.

SERAMAS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. they all feather out the same

Good point, roos do tend to feather in funky. That's probably at least part of it, lol.

Do you think the delayed feathering could be what is going on with one of my chicks??
It was hatched the same day his 16 brothers and sisters were and yet they have almost 4 times as much length in their wing feathers as he does. They are about a week and a half old, maybe 2 weeks. His little feather tipped wings are super far behind everyone else, he barely has a quarter inch of feather. But hes the same size as everyone else!
I kept him back when I sold all the other barnyard mix chicks because I Was afraid he was going to be deformed or something since he's not really growing feathers like the others.

how long can i keep the eggs from my hens unrefrigerated? i got this really cool, old fashion egg collecting basket. i wanted to use it for decoration and put real chicken eggs in it! so how long do you guys think i can leave the eggs out before they go bad and are inedible?

I think a month, I never put mine in the fridge, but we eat them pretty quick, so mine are never more than 2 weeks old. I know over in Europe they never put them in the Fridge, you buy them at room temp and then store them at room temp and eat them at room temp. Pretty sure that can be a few weeks in the process.

I leave mine out for up to 3 weeks, as long as they are unwashed.
Once they hit the 3 week mark, I water-float test them to make sure they are ok before I eat them. Everyone in my family keeps their pretty eggs from my ladies in fancy baskets on the counters
