American serama thread!

Oh poo kuku, if he has a little crow, I don't see any reason why you could not keep him. Just bring him in the house at night.......He is TOO CUTE to get rid of.......LOL
Toy doesn't get along with other dominant roos. He did great with a little silkied serama cockerel who knew his place, but would fight with my other boys. Toy is so people friendly and will follow me all over the house trying to be cute to earn treats so if the new guy doesn't get along with him, the new guy goes. Toy already lives inside with me =) Unfortunately I don't have space to keep them separate. Between my house goose, my 4 project breeding pens (JG, BLRW, Araucana, EE trio mixed with a couple other hens), and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Bantam BLRW, I could be over run in NO time. The serama are my cute little house friends in place of having dogs =P I do hope he gets to stay though! He is getting so stinkin cute!!!
kuku.....go to the www.AmericanSeramaAssociation.com site for answers to these questions...I will not open that can of worms here.....too painful for me to think about.....I am a bleeding heart BIG TIME..LOL
Thanks! I need to bookmark that sucker! So much great information!

I am so glad to know that Toy is a special one to you. He was to me. I hope to have another some day that I can keep. You may find that Holly is also real tame when worked with. Give Toy Boy a hug for me.

My husband just calls her Berry so that has kinda stuck. She is sweet too! Just not as outgoing and people seeking as Toy. He cracks me up. he will jump up and fly across the whole house, crow once, then come back and settle down again. I am trying to catch it on video... we will see LOL
I haven't mixed him with the goose yet though, that will be an interesting day.

We have had four chicks hatch in the last week...one was from a very tiny egg...half the size of the others...Seramas are like a box of chocolate...you never know what you're gonna get!!!

I love seramas! I would get some but I would be too nervous leaving them with my other bantams, considering that they are so small!

Theron -

I didn't either but my mottled boy had "BB" on his card and a mottled hen of mine was reserve. The judge even made mention at the banquet about the quality of mottled serama at the show.

Strange. Congratulations on your wins though.

Hopefully, most colors will become accepted so there isn't as much confusion.

Hey folks,
About the judging in cage.....I recently went to a show that had a total of 12 Seramas. I put colors on mine, but the competition left hers blank so the judge just put them all in as AOV and judged them as one group. They can be judged that way, he said, but they can't go beyond that....no AOV can go to Champion's Row. So, that makes 2 shows I have attended with mine that have gone that way. One judge did tell me that if there were enough for classes, he would have broken them into colors, but since there weren't, he just went with AOV for all and gave my AOV roo BB, my black hen took first as well. So they are having to tinker with Seramas in the cage judging a bit, I think.

One thing they are not wanting is to have them blow open and have tons of colors like the OEGB, but by having us use colors, I don't see how they an prevent that. The ABA nationals will be only 2 hours from this year, and I hope to see several Seramas there in Nov. Anyone planning on coming??

@ocseramas - congratz on your wins!
