American serama thread!

Thanks but thats a little bit older than im looking for.
Im going to try to hatch some eggs again. Any serama hatching tips?
Kept my temp @100° & humidity @ 50% for 1st 18 days then lowered temp to 99° & raised humidity to 68 % but they didn't pip, no movement, no sound. Gave them to day 25 hoping but :( nothing
I have chicks that are 8 & 12 weeks old.

Did you open any of those eggs after the 25th day to see if they were even fertile? Did U candle them at all to see if there was development? I am sorry you got zip...that bites :(

Knowing that they were developing/or not, would have helped your heart .

I bought my first pair of frizzeled Seramas, and they have started to lay. I incubated the eggs, and unfortunitly none hatched. Maybe the rooster was not breeding at the time?? I just can't wait to get my some sweet chicks like yours in the pics! Also, I'm unable to find breeders in the northeastern USA. Can anyone help?? I just adore these birds and would like to purchase more. We have a heated barn per the cold winters. Thanks!

Yeah I got 12 eggs shipped from CA to NJ (bad decision on my part) 1 was cracked upon opening box (not packaged well) at least 3 were unfertilized, 5 were totally scrambled , 3 made it to day 10 & only 2 made it to lockdown but 1 I was uncertain about being alive. I opened all thats how I know the outcomes. The 2 i opened last were fully & normally developed but for whatever reason didn't hatch

OUCH, that was a LONG haul.... serama eggs are hard to hatch to begin wih and then to have to survive a 3,000 mile trip! It is not uncommon for them to make it to the last day and then expire...SO sorry for you and your losses.. :(

Well, that's better than I would have thought considering how far those eggs traveled and how many times they were probably literally thrown! Most breeders do not sell eggs, this is one of the reasons why. Very few, if any, usually hatch and what usually happens is that the buyer winds up unhappy for all their efforts. You are far better to save your money and buy a good pair and raise your own. Serama eggs are difficult to begin with to incubate and then combine that with the Post Office tactics, it a bad thing waiting to happen.
