American serama thread!

I have a Serama breeding question. I have 3 boys from an extremely well known breeder who I will not name. One is perfect type. One has a somewhat long back. One has slightly short wings. The question is, can I breed the ones that are not perfect type knowing that the genetics are there because of who they came from, and expect that I will be able to get some show quality chicks? Or is a cull bird a cull bird no matter who's genetic line they come from?

hmm... thats a good question. I dont know too much on them but i will share what i do and thats , a long back is hard to breed out, you can breed 2 of the top winning birds in the world and you may get one to show. well, said i didnt know much LOL

First, there is no "Perfect" serama. All are a work in progress. It would depend on how long that back is on the one bird as to whether it would be worth trying to breed it out. If it's only a little long, you can work with it. Short wings or are the legs actually too long? Short wings are not all that common but much easier to work with by breeding to most females because a vast majority have wings a bit too long so this is easily overcome. Most anything can be bred out but it depends on how many generations you want to bred. If you post photos of your birds, I'm sure you can get some good input and suggestions.
