my incubator is still holding at 100 !!! 3-4 days now i think.

humidity suggestions please ? its 16 dry, a can wont fit inside so i am using a glass qt. jar on the outside with a wick through an air hole . brings it to 26. pie tin under the wire for lock down. could this be a problem with bacteria ? the water on the outside i mean ? getting eggcited

I rolled 2 paper towels(Wet) and put one in 2 different water channels and just add a little water with a straw through the vent hole,as needed. It keeps mine between 25-35%.I hope it helps!

I use wet sponges during lock down. That keeps the humidity up real well..

thank you for the info ! I never thought to use a straw. It is a homemade incubator though and dont have channels. I have a pie tin under the wire and using that right now would raise humidity levels too high.

wonder if i could use a muffin tin? fill a few then fill them all. do they make disposable muffin tins? I dont have eggs yet and all ready worried about lock down !!

I have a little giant, they are not great for temp. and humidity consistency . I would put the paper towels in the pie tin and just add several drops at a time till it gets to where you need it. I had tried sponges in jars and other ideas I had read but the paper towels seemed to keep it way more consistent. I can't remember which byc'er gave me the idea but I really appreciate it.

ya, I knew it was close. my mom used to like there. seems like my sisters town starts with a B ? it connects. I know it is close to a woman that has a hatchery or what ever they call it. she is supposed to have really nice chicks. on or just off barkley ave.?
