American serama thread!

I have a 2 year old Serama hen who shares a pen with her mate. She hatched chicks last year, but since then she has become hyper broody. When she is laying I remove the eggs every day. After laying around 10 eggs she goes broody and starts nesting without any eggs in the nest. I removed her privacy enclosure, but she just rakes up wood chips and nests there. This has been going on for about a month and a half. I don't know how to break her broodiness. Any help is appreciated.

Why do you not want her to have babies? Do you not have the infrastructure for 2-3 more chickens?

She's a normal Serama hen.

Hmm. Well I will bow out then. There are plenty of ways to break broodiness but I don't do any of it because I like observing nature and broody hens is one of those natural things.

I just started with some babies . I love them !! finally a serama mama.

I am getting like one Serama egg every few days. I'm probably more like 7-8 weeks before I can have a real hatch.

One of the hens is wanting to brood but since she isn't sitting on the eggs yet, I am keeping them for her in the house until she has 4-5. The nights are still below freezing so she is still gravitating towards the heat lamp. I might move her into the garage.
