I'm so excited. I'm patiently waiting. No rush
I have 7 broody hens right now with lots of eggs under them... orpingtons, ameraucanas, duccle and call ducks. Have 2 incubators full also. The hatching should begin this weekend and continue through the 28th
Once the first eggs under the broodies hatch I will give them some of the ones out of the incubators. I have 2 duccle brooding together, 2 cochin bantams, 2 wyandotte bantams and 1 call duck lol. I think it's all the peeps from the babies that I moved outside last month. I've never had so many broodies at 1 time. I will only let them set 2 rounds and then I will let them keep the babies they hatch from the 2nd batch. The next eggs are already in the incubator so it won't even be 2 whole sittings. So far everyone is doing great
This is the 2nd time 1 of the cochin bantams has gone broody already this year. She hatches out 12 bantams back in January and is a great mother. The other cochin hatched a couple clutches last year but is her first time sitting this year. I hope I have a broody when you have the silkie eggs available. They always do a better job than I do
