Thanks I am trying to figure out a price to sell my chicks at
That gives me some hope. My Teeny was 13 weeks yesterday and is at 10.4 ounces. As to size, I gave up on Midget. She stayed soooo small for so long and then, almost overnight, she passed 12 ounces and is now bigger than her mother. She is over 20 weeks.A group of 5 birds turns 4 months old on Friday.
Charley is the smallest of the bunch and the only roo.
10.7 ounces.
You have not posted again. It is my hope that I did not offend by saying I thought your hen was ill or that they were eight weeks old instead of 8 months old. If so, I am sorry. If I had not posted about the above pullet being sick and then read later that she had died, well, it would be hard to take.
Serama are wonderful birds and the ones you have will make great additions to your family.
Pictures can be very deceiving. I've seen this in my own pictures. But here is why I believe she might be ill. First her eyes. They do not look as they should for a healthy bird. And yet, I have seen this caused by editing a picture. Her beak is slightly open as though the breathing were labored. But she could be vocalizing at the time the picture was taken. In the picture her plumage looks frayed and stained from head on down. A bird that is ill doesn't care for themselves as they should. Again, much of her appearance in the photo could very well be caused by the lighting when the shot was taken.
I do hope that I am wrong and that the pullet is fine.
I'm getting smaller birds than ever but I'm also noticing that my birds no longer stop growing at 6 months or so.
I think that by breeding birds with big bellies instead of big chests I am changing their physiology.
