American serama thread!

Speaking of, I set mine last night! They were very well packaged, none broke. I could only set 11, They all look great and got here super quick! Some were so fat that setting all 12 would interfere with how my turner works (mini adv. brinsea.) I'm sure there will be a clear I can pull at the end of the week to set it as a late one. Thank you for the opportunity to hatch some tribbles!

I hope you have great luck.

I set 12 eggs in my mini advanced, Why can't you set all 12?
As mentioned, some of the eggs were simply too fat! They had to be a bit squeezed in there and it made them sit so tight that it would stop them from turning. I am usually able to set a solid dozen. Not that I am complaining, I don't mind it.. the remaining egg will store until the first candling and can replace a clear, since there's certain to be one. The first time I was shipped too-fat serama eggs I tried a mixture of hand turning and letting the regular turner do its work, and I didn't hatch anything. Wish I'd done it this way then! Why work harder instead of smarter..

Thank you for the luck nchls school!

interesting, I have never had seramas eggs that large that they don't fit in the turners, mine are almost too small for the quail turners!

It is a rare happening, usually I am not sent big eggs. I trust the breeders I got them from or else I'd be very tempted to call fowl, pardon the term.

The last time it happened I discussed with them about it because it cost me the hatch, and apparently they knew the birds I was talking about as they were prone to laying fat'ns. Ra_ also breeds for a heftier bird with more belly space to channel that ball appearance, so they might just trend toward it. To be completely honest, I kind of like how round the tribble eggs are. It is fitting!

lol cool! as long as you are happy!

Are these eggs from @Ra_ that you're talking about being too fat? If so, I know exactly what you mean! The egg Spaz hatched from, and the other eggs that didn't hatch, were like little ping-pong balls. Really fat, and it took me awhile to find the top! I think it's very appropriate for a Tribble though ;-)
Can't wait for my other Tribble eggs to get here!

Ya, I was gonna say ping pong balls too.
My Serama also lay more oblong eggs but even on those,
it's often very difficult to tell which end is pointed.
They're very symmetrical.

Tribbles are Weirdos.
