The dang broodies! Goof thing I left them with only 2 chicks! I just found them lifeless and sprawled out in the coop! They are in the incubator and I am going to give them electrolytes! Anything else I can do?!
Sorry to read this. If they are alive and only chilled they will bounce back. What happened?
Also some of my silkied chicks that hatched are almost all black. They have black faces and bodies with a little bit of white on there chest and toes. I thought that was interesting
They might have been cold but I think it's highly unlikely because it's been very hot here. I think one of the broodies hurt them because she is paranoid about anyone coming near them. I'm assuming they just aren't good mothers. They are slowly getting better. They can stand and have their eyes open now. They are in the brooder with the 1 day old chicks.
Was it 100 F.? If the hens had really abused them they, most likely, would have died. Any visible injuries? Stress would also play a part in their condition.
