Great job on the foot fix up! It looks fabulous! I have an OEGB rooster that had to have both feet fixed at that age. Except for one toe that is ever so slightly crooked, you'd never know it!

When my Serama Colours book arrives, I'll try to give you some predictions on color, as for now, I'm sure he will be very handsome!

I have to ask... just for my own research stuff... the foot thing.. did you have some incubating issues? Humidity problems? Late hatches? I've had to administer care for several various breed chicks with foot curling, and most have come from hatches with funky incubator issues.

I did have to help him at hatch. He was shrink wrapped. He had pipped and unzipped about 1/2 way, then just sat in the same position for hours. I had to moisten the membrane with warm water and gently chip away the left over shell. It took forever and I was up all night doing it. Once he was mostly out, I allowed him to push the rest of the way, knowing he needed that for leg development. I noticed the curled toes right away, then the splayed leg, both of which were on the right leg/foot. I'm pretty sure the difficult hatch is what caused it. I hatched 14 others that day and no one else had issues. I had never seen the membrane so dry and stuck to the chick that he couldn't turn at all, like a fly trap! I hope I don't have to deal with that again.

My oldest serama hen is sick. She has her eyes closed most of the time. Kind of puffy (not alot), i can really feel her breastbone, Tail pointing down, and she lets me pick her up which is very rare. I have her in a dog crate in my garage with chick start in the water and medicated chick feed. any other suggestions.

her crop feels kind of like a balloon...soft and squishy

I don't know, I hope she pulls through!!! Do you think she has a crop infection or impaction? I don't think it should be squishy, unless it's got some stuck food in it. I would search the list for crop problems and see what they say. I think you do apple cider vinegar and massage ... but it's been a long time since I read a crop problem thread so really unsure if that's right.

I have a tortoise in similar straights, yesterday she was fine, eating like a pig, running around everywhere. Today she is just sitting with her eyes closed, won't eat, and I put her in her pan of water to soak (they can absorb water through their rectum) to rehydrate her, she stayed in until I took her out. Normally they run around like crazy trying to get out, and this was a pan that she could have walked right out of if she wanted to. Her eyes looked a little bit better afterwards. So we'll be taking the exotic vet trip in the morning. Happily the vet is less than 2 miles away. Hopefully she'll be okay until then. If I knew what was wrong I would give her a baytril injection, from my left over from treating Ivy from an eye infection. But I don't know the dose for a tortoise, and not sure that would be the correct one anyway. Sigh! I hate it when my pets are sick. We've had the torts 3 years and none have ever been sick, except Bluefellow (the boy) gets an eye infection every year at hibernation time from scratching his eye in the dirt when he digs burrows. I think my sick tort (Squirtle) has something other than an eye infection though ... thinking probably sinus, even though I don't see any drainage, since their eyes can look weird when they have a sinus infection. Morning will tell ... I've done all I can right now.
