Chicklette, I routinely have to trim some of mine cause many of my birds are inside and don't get their nails or beaks worn off as much as if they were outside.

I have a pair of cat nail clippers, it is a tiny little pair of scissors type thing. I just hold bird under my left arm and trim upper beak to where it is almost even ( a little longer ) than top beak. Usually snip one side and then other side.

Since I have them in hand, I also do any nails that are getting too long. Most easy to see the quick unless you have very dark feet and legs.

I also will trim the fluff under the hens vent while I am at it. It keeps them cleaner and may help increase possibility of fertile eggs. ( just use small pair of snub nosed scissors.)

IF for any reason you cause bleeding, you can use Kwik stop or flour or cornstarch to help stop it.

He is the lovely young healthy version of Patrick Swayze. Not the old cancer stricken version before passed on. Poor guy. And I know the glasses were a little Larry king but we don't want his ego hurt. And he was only borrowing them for his study time from his momma. As you can see he is not good at studying. He simply passed out. It's a good thing nobody has decided on creating chicken schools. Swayze would get detention often if not fail his courses!
