American serama thread!

lol chaili that is funny.... hope the hubby gets what he is after.... just remember that oppusums are marsupials and if he shoots a female this time of year in california she may well have babies in her stomach pouch.....sounds nasty but check her belly you may have some orphans

Possums are abundant here too. Ya see em dead on the roadsides all the time. I saw one on my back patio once in the 6 years we have lived here. I went outside and screamed at him, scared the poo right out of it, never did come back. Now if I can just catch that fox thats been running round here or the coyote who tore up my cat i'd be able to sleep thru the night...

Off topic but while I was in NYC I saw nothing but dirty pigeons, no butterflies or frogs, toads ect. When I got home one of my broody hens with her 3-1 month old chicks was hollering about something in the tall grass, being the adventurist I am I went in to investigate and found this lil/big guy.... For those of you who love frogs, this is for you

He also was such a ham for the camera

He is very lucky I saved him because the birds were about to have frog legs for supper...

So far with mine, the size is not a good predictor of gender. I've had really teeny ones be boys, and really teeny ones be girls. Usually by 3 weeks mine do have some red in their combs if they are boys, or, are getting big time wattles. Phyllis had slightly pink lines where the wattles grow at 3 weeks, and I was worried she was a boy, but she is a girl.

I was still hopeing for a phillip so it could come to my house. lol. I have one lonely egg in lock down. It is from my own serama hen. It is the only one that was fertile out of 6. I thought it was a blood ring and kept it in anyway and glad I did. Hopefully I will have a chick today or tomarrow.

That frog looks like a southern leopard frog. In the spring, they sound like a maniacal man laughing. Creepy! Cool frogs though. I saved one from my chicken pen a couple of days ago too.

Oh he protested at first but when he saw the flock running for him he decided to hop in my hand and take me up on a photo shoot

He is beautiful and yepppers a leopard frog. I have never seen one that big around here tho. You should see the snappers that cross the yard to get to the lake across the street
