I really NEED to read more about the genetics and all of these different chocolate colorings...when I'm a little smarter, I'll make my next purchase. I "thought" I knew enough to start my project but..... I remember reading on here somewhere that Seramas are VERY DIFFICULT when it comes to genetics, coloring....and I totally believe it now

My eyes are hurting from reading so much....... I'm only on page 35 of this thread, plus all of the other sites I've been reading

I feel ya! I am also going to breed for chocolates, and cocoapops (cross cocopop roo with chocolate or dun hen.)

It's crazy to me how expensive some of these birds are when their lifespan really isn't all that long. I suppose I'd want to get as many babies from them as possible!

Good Luck!

pfft...

jose's dad loves this bird... he always has him out on the weekend to show him off to his friends... puts a tshirt on a table or ice chest, and shows everyone how he poses... i'm surprised he let me play with him this weekend... anyways, if you want to get him, you're gonna have to get thru a 110lb pit bull and frankie... but i'd be more scared of frankie than the pit...

italianchicksrule, in US we call him double laced cocopop silver duckwings...European call him bronze tailed silver neck double laced. Below are a few European's written standard for difference variation of the cocopop we call in the US. I am currently working with the bronze tailed silver neck double laced variety, I have a hard time produce the hen close to the written description. I know I will have to clean up their hackles and saddles of stipping once I have the color clamp down. I can always speed up my project by buy everything I need from other breeders but then I decided on work with what I have to see where it takes me. Its not an easy task but hey, life without challenge is meaningless!!!!!

Bronze tailed
Rooster: head, hackle and saddle shining orange with a matt bronze brown shaft stripe.
Shoulders and back shining red brown. Primaries matt bronze brown with a brown feather edge.
Secondaries red brown outer vane (wing triange) and matt bronze brown inner vane.
Breast, wing coverts, wing bands, abdomen and lower thighs in light chestnut brown. Main tail feathers very dark matt brown with almost invisible lighter colour shade towards the basis. Sickles shining bronze brown, secondary sickles slightly peppered and very shining. Down: brownish grey.
Hen: head, hackle deep yellow, lower hackle matt brown shaft stripes with yellow quills. Primaries yellow with matt brown inner vane. Back, wing coverts, saddle and tail coverts light yellow with yellow quills and feather edges. The inner part of these feathers have a more or less matt brown peppering. Breast, abdomen, lower thighs evenly light yellow. Tail chocolate brown, upper main tail feathers in colour and pattern like tail coverts. Down: greyish.
Legs: yellow
