American serama thread!

Hi Folks- I am new to this thread and am intereted in learning more about seramas. I am thinking of buying some from an online friend later this fall. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the only variety of serama that has been accepted by the APA is the white. I am wondering, are there folks who are working on getting another variety accepted? If so, which varieties? The person I am thinking of buyint them from has all different colors mixed in one pen....many colors, if I understand correctly.

Is there any recommendations as to which variety to start with? I will probably just start out with a trio. I am intending to get back into showing some of my chickens. I've done that in the past and really enjoy it.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Well, that makes sense. It seems the solid colors are usually the first to get "right." Thanks for the info. I don't know how "typey" the ones are that I am going to see. I'll know in about a month.

Now that's what I'm talkin about!! I hope some of my choco's turn out as nice

I haven't gotten any cockerels from my chocolates, how weird. I'm working on it though, I don't have the sense not to try

This is my favorite color if I'm going to work on a solid. I guess you just keep trying. If you have any roosters you're not happy with, maybe my solid black pullets and my chocolate pullets might cross well with them.
