American serama thread!

grind some garlic up in his food and it will give his comb better color .

I have no clue what color you would call them, but they are pretty. I notice the rooster's comb is a little dark. Is that from stress? I know some birds relocate easier than others. I will be getting my first seramas in about a month, and I am pretty excited. I'm in the process of building some pens for them right now.

I think that the comb color is from stress, they were driven from Alabama to Missouri. The breeder comes to our fall Farmer's market festival every year. They are currently in quarantine at my house. So far no signs of any illness. I am hoping his comb will lose that dark color. Besides stress, is there anything else that can cause that color? The older pullet has been giving me an egg a day for the past week, so she has settled in nicely. I put 2 of them in the bator last week, one is developing nicely, the other had a blood ring and had to be tossed. I have heard that they take less time to hatch than regular chickens. Is this true?

Jessi,
I am so sorry for your loss. I couldnt even deal with the loss of 20 birds. I hope a lot of your chicks turn out great so you can use them as breeders in the spring. I wish sugarplum laid, i would send you some of her eggs. : (

I took some photos this evening and thought I'd share them and hopefully get some opinions. They are from 3 different hatches over about a 3 to 3 1/2 week span.
I truly hope I won't bore you but I have no idea what I have so far. I know it is early but maybe some of you will recognize a color or pattern. These eggs were all from my trio from Jerry. I have one more batch in the bator but I think the result will be repititious. Well here goes.......hope you all like photos!

The last photo shows the birds that produced these. I have 16 chickens and I don't know if I've shown them all but you get the idea!
